Greetings,
We thought the Super Bowl was a general let down. Probably too much hype in recent days among other issues.
The commercials dominated air time at almost 3 commercials per 6 football plays. Of course, at 16 million dollars per minute we can see why they would air so many commercials. But, the commercials were pretty stupid and really did not cause us any motivation to purchase any products advertised. We can not really remember what products were actually advertised except Bud Light — and for us, shooting cans of Bud Light out of a leaf blower is stupid but may be more appropriate than drinking one. Have you noticed that commercials these days never give product benefits other than some reference to social nonsense or an earned feeling of conformity.
With all the talent available, we were really disappointed in the half time show. Some guy mumbling loudly into a mic wearing someone else’s pants, surrounded by 50 dancers in their pajamas that could not dance. It was like watching and listening to paint dry while chewing tin foil. What happened to good music, elegance and a famous beautiful talented person delivering a really good song(s) of joy and love.
Philly fans were a bit rude but that is what folks from the city of brotherly love do. They will Boo the water boy and Taylor Swift because they are both happy. Political preference has nothing to do with football. Nothing, she has a right to show up at a game, date who she wants to date and vote the way she chooses.
It is a consideration that any momentum that the Chiefs might have mustered was crushed by so many commercial time outs but then, it did not seem to bother the Eagles. We think that it is fair to say that player fatigue was never an issue with so many rest periods. We thought that there were a few calls against the Chiefs that might have been an over reaction to previous suggestions that ref calls all year may have favored the Chiefs. We hope that the REFS simply run the game fairly and for the safety of the players.
In short, there is too much hype for this game and it is usually a let down, the commercials were immorally expensive as are the streaming services for some folks. The half time entertainment was just low rent and crummy. The commercial interruptions spoiled the foot game game for us. The NFL needs to ramp it down a bit for they are showing signs of irreparable GREED that is glaring.
A final comment would be that the Eagles have been ascending for weeks to become a powerful football team, they played a flawless game and suffocated the Chief’s offense and Mahomes. They deserve the win and demonstrated good sportsmanship during the entire game and during the post game show. We can not be so complimentary of the Philly Fans.
The football game is the reason for all else that takes place in an event like this and the NFL needs to remember that we did not sign up to watch two hours of commercials and an hour and a half of a segmented football game. There was no continuity at all including the deplorable half time show.
It is true that we were cheering the Chiefs in hopes to participate in a manner of speaking in a ” Threepeat” but it was not to be. The Eagles not only won but they delivered “a beat down on the Chiefs”. They played a flawless game and deserve the Lombardi Trophy…hands down.
Be Aware: Congratulations on Your Win, your hard earned talent and your sportsmanship.
Beware: The NFL is getting in it’s own way. Few team fans can afford $9500.00 stadium seats, $500.00 parking or $16.00 beer, especially in the face of such poor half time entertainment and radically interrupted playing time. All in all, especially for TV fans, this super bowl sucked, even if we had been cheering for the Eagles.
